Dr. Diana Scott Beattie has been further celebrated by the New York chapter of the Association for Women in Science, the National Institutes of Health, and the National Science Foundation.

Prior to beginning her career, she pursued an education at the University of Pittsburgh, earning a Master of Science. Dr. Beattie later concluded her academic efforts at the University of Pittsburgh with a Doctor of Philosophy.
Dr. Beattie's first accepted a position as a research associate for her alma mater, a role in which she excelled for six years. Following this appointment, she found success as a research associate for a VA Hospital and a professor of biochemistry at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine. Regarded for her professionalism and expertise in her field, she later worked for the West Virginia University School of Medicine for over two decades, having provided her expertise as a professor, chairman of the department of biochemistry, and chairman of the department of biochemistry and molecular pharmacology between 1985 and 2006.
In addition to her exemplary accomplishments, Dr. Beattie has been afforded many opportunities to contribute her experience within her industry. She served as a committee member for the American Society of Biological Chemists, a member of the executive committee and the former president of the Association of Medical School Departments of Biochemistry, a council member for the American Association of Medical Schools, and a member of the biochemistry test committee for the National Board of Medical Examiners. She was also a member of the graduate faculty for biomedical sciences for the City University of New York, and a visiting professor for several universities, including the University of Louvain in Belgium, the University of Nairobi, in Kenya, and Shandong University in China. A Fulbright fellow, Dr. Beattie has been further celebrated by the New York chapter of the Association for Women in Science, the National Institutes of Health, the National Science Foundation, and Fogarty International.
