EDINBURG, TX, April 01, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Peter Lewis Kranz, PhD, with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Dr. Kranz celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Supported by more than 55 years of practiced experience in psychology and academia, Dr. Kranz has excelled as a professor in the counseling department of the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley since 2013, having previously held the posts of an associate professor in educational psychology from 2007 to 2013 and an assistant professor in educational psychology from 2002 to 2007. The former director of the Counseling Center of the Northern campus of Florida Atlantic University between 2000 and 2002, he previously served as the director of counseling and adjunct associate professor in the Department of Student Affairs at Tennessee Technological University between 1993 and 2000 and as an associate professor and director of the Counseling Center at Eckerd College from 1988 to 1993. Prior to these appointments, Dr. Kranz worked for Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania as an assistant and an associate professor between 1985 and 1988.
From 1983 to 1985, Dr. Kranz found success with the state of Colorado as a mental health worker. He began his career as an associate professor at the University of North Florida in 1972, holding this position for a decade. Dr. Kranz attributes his success to the opportunities he was afforded throughout his career, which were encouraged and supported by his family, friends and colleagues; in particular, his parents were influential and pushed the value of education upon their children.
To prepare for his career, Dr. Kranz initially earned a Bachelor of Arts in psychology at Grinnell College in 1963. Soon thereafter, he enrolled at the Utah State University, obtaining a Master of Arts in psychology in 1965. Completing coursework at Merrill Palmer Institute from 1964 to 1965 and at Duquesne University from 1965 to 1966, he later pursued a clinical psychology internship at the Oklahoma Medical Center in 1968. Dr. Kranz completed his academic efforts at the Utah State University College of Agriculture and Applied Sciences, graduating with a Doctor of Philosophy in child psychology in 1969.
Defining success as not only your professional contributions, but also your community-based and personal contributions, Dr. Kranz is proud of the service he has completed on behalf of making the world a better place. Additionally, he is proud of being involved with the creation of a course titled Human Conflict: Black and White while he was at the University of North Florida, during the beginning of race integration in the 1970s. Composing classes of 10-to-12 students, he applied real-life applications to the course, encouraging African American and Caucasian students to converse with one another to realize their similarities and connect on a deeper level. Because this made so significant a difference in the lives of Dr. Kranz's students, especially during the era of integration, author Terence Clarke wrote his book, An Arena of Truth: Conflict in Black and White, which chronicled many of the conversations and confrontations with each other and the profound emotional breakthroughs that his students were able to achieve. It was published in March 2019 and is available from bookstores and on Amazon.
Dr. Kranz has performed public speaking outside of his work in universities regarding the topic of race relations across the ages. In light of his expertise on many topics, he has been invited to present at a variety of professional conferences and universities. In addition to these endeavors, Dr. Kranz also teaches two graduate classes per semester and is responsible for conducting research for professional seminars and being involved in activities through university committees.
As a testament to his success, Dr. Kranz has accrued numerous accolades and honors. The recipient of the Outstanding Alumni Award from Grinnell College in 2018, he also accepted the Distinguished Research Award from the College of Education at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley in 2015 and the Alumni Merit Award from Utah State University College of Agriculture and Applied Sciences in 2012. Earlier in his career, Dr. Kranz was presented with the Second Prize for Research (while a resident at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in psychodrama, sociometry and group psychotherapy) with the Winfred Overholser Prize in 1980.
In recognition of outstanding contributions to his profession and the Marquis Who's Who community, Dr. Kranz has been featured on the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement website. Please visit www.ltachievers.com for more information about this honor.
