Retired political science professor Dr. Schwab had taught at John Carroll University in University Heights, Ohio for 36 years. Hired in 1976 as an assistant professor, he also chaired the political science department for several years during his tenure. Earlier in his career, Dr. Schwab found much success with his written works, having authored articles published in scholarly journals as well as three books: "Changing Patterns of Congressional Politics" in 1980, "The Impact of Congressional Reapportionment and Redistricting" in 1988 and "The Illusion of a Conservative Reagan Revolution" in 1991, which was published as a paperback edition in 2017.
Having always wanted to teach on the collegiate level, Dr. Schwab took time off between his masters and doctorate studies in order to teach at the Sacred Heart School in New Bavaria, Ohio between 1968 and 1970. He then excelled as an assistant professor at the University of Tennessee between 1973 to 1975 before acquiring his first faculty position at John Carroll University. Throughout his four decades in education, Dr. Schwab is very proud to have been able to shape the lives of so many students in such a positive way.
Dr. Schwab is a longstanding member of the American Political Science Association, the Ohio Association of Economists and Political Scientists, the Midwest Political Science Association, Phi Alpha Theta and Pi Sigma Alpha. A Grauel Faculty fellow at John Carroll University in 1987 and 1998, he was later honored with a Man for Others Award by John Carroll University in 2011. He has been further featured in the 24th edition of Who's Who in the Midwest. Dr. Schwab notably earned a Bachelor's degree from Bowling Green State University in 1967, Master's degree from the University of Wisconsin in 1968 and a Doctor of Philosophy from Case Western Reserve University in 1975.
