With 40 years of professional experience, Dr. Reintgen has been the program leader in Cutaneous Oncology with the Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa from 1987 to 2000, the Cancer Center Director of the Lakeland Regional Cancer from 2000 to 2008 and the Director of Cancer Initiatives at the University of South Florida from 2008. While at Moffitt Cancer Center Dr. Reintgen was instrumental in the development, teaching and widespread adoption of the lymphatic mapping technique to treat melanoma and breast cancer patients.
Dr. Reintgen obtained his formal education and training at Duke University, obtaining a Bachelor of Arts degree in chemistry in 1975, a Doctor of Medicine degree in 1979 and serving a general surgery residency and surgical oncology fellowship at Duke University Medical Center from 1979 to 1987.
A respected voice in his areas of expertise, Dr. Reintgen has been affiliated with a number of professional organizations. He is a member of the American College of Surgeons, the Society of Surgical Oncology, the Association for Academic Surgery, the Southeastern Surgical Congress, the Bassett Surgical Society and the Sabiston Surgical Society. Furthermore, Dr. Reintgen has served a number of journals in an editorial capacity, including the Annals of Plastic Surgery, the Journal of Surgical Oncology, Cancer Screening, Clinical Breast Cancer, and the Annals of Surgical Oncology.
Throughout his career, Dr. Reintgen has been recognized for his contributions.
