Born in Dallas, Mr. Fouts' father worked for a management corporation while he was growing up. Successful in his career, he had to relocate from Texas to Syracuse, NY for his company. Because of this, Mr. Fouts set out to find a career that would allow him to dictate his own future, eventually becoming a self-employed attorney.
A longtime member of the American Bar Association, the State Bar of Texas, the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, The Pro Bono College of the State Bar of Texas, the Dallas Bar Association and the American Association for Justice, Mr. Fouts is also a member of the Southern Methodist University Alumni Board of Directors and several fraternities. Locally, he has contributed as the director of the Child Welfare Board and on the board of directors of his local vestry at the Christ Episcopal Church, among other roles. As a real estate investor, Mr. Fouts has notably lectured at various Dallas Board of Realtors seminars.
Mr. Fouts has been recognized among the nation's Top One Percent of Attorneys since 2016, the Best Attorneys in America and Texas Top Rated Lawyers. He has been additionally honored as an AV-Rated Preeminent Attorney by Martindale-Hubbell for more than 37 years. Initially earning a Bachelor of Business Administration at Southern Methodist University in 1966, Mr. Fouts later graduated with a Doctor of Jurisprudence at the University of Texas in 1970.
