CHESTER, PA, April 17, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Courtlandt Lamont Craig with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Mr. Craig celebrates many years of experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

With more than 40 years of professional experience, Courtlandt Lamont Craig has been an active leader in the arts community, having specialized in oil painting, acrylic painting, watercolor, sandstone sculpture, collages/pholages, chalk, and pastels. He calls himself "Artist for the New World" because he has a lot of symbolic work that is a reflection of reality. Notably, he founded the Chester Art Guild. He has been featured in numerous one-person shows, such as at the Merabash Museum in 1977 and the Chester Art Guild in 1979. Additionally, he has been included in group shows at Crozer-Chester Arts and Crafts Show in 1976, the Linvilla Orchard Art Show in 1976, and the 11th and 12th Media Annual Arts and Crafts Show in 1976 and 1977, respectively.

At Widener University, he exhibited many of his works in 1978 and at the Center for Social Work Education's Diversity Week Art Exhibit in 1994. He also exhibited work and lectured at the university for Black History Month in 1978 and the Fourth Annual Black Culture Show in 1981. He has also had work exhibited at The Galerie in 1980, the Springfield Mall in 1981, 1982, and 1983, the Chester Tri-centennial William Penn's Landing in 1982, and the YMCA in 1987 and 1992.

Mr. Craig has had his work shown on multiple occasions at the Crozer-Chester Medical Center, the Amsterdam Whitney Art Gallery in New York in 2004, the Alfred O. Deshong Art Museum. Most recently, his art has been exhibited at Harrah's Casino, the Main Line Unitarian Church Center, the Darlington Art Center, the Art on Avenue of the State's Gallery, the Delaware County Historical Museum, the Nebula Gallery and currently at the Art Expo at the Springfield Mall in Springfield, PA. Outside of his artistic endeavors, he worked as an orderly in the operating room of Crozer-Chester Medical Center in Upland, PA, beginning in 1972. He retired from the health care industry in 2015 after 43 years of service to focus exclusively on his art.

Over the years, Mr. Craig has accumulated many notable achievements. Most recently, he judged the NFL Hall of Fame, Emlen Tunnell Coloring Contest, Wayne Art Center, and Sports Legends of Delaware County Museum in 2017. Moreover, he had his sculpture exhibited at Art Takes Times Square in New York City in 2014, participated in a poetry slam at Art on Avenue of the State's Gallery in Chester, PA, in 2014 and has his art shown in the Philadelphia Union PPL Park art exhibit in 2013. Likewise, he submitted his collage entitled "Change" to the White House, receiving a note of thanks from former President Obama, in 2013.

As a young child, Mr. Craig was inspired to pursue drawing because of his father, who was talented in drawing as well. He did not realize he had a talent for it until his father asked him to recreate a drawing. Both his mother and father were artists who never pursued their talents. Knowing this, he decided he would follow his passion. Throughout elementary school, he excelled in art class. When he reached high school, he worked on the backdrops for school plays. He earned a GED from Chester High School in Chester, PA. He also held membership in the Neighborhood Youth Corps and the Opportunity Center, where he found mentorship.

Throughout his career, Mr. Craig earned First Prize in sculpture at the Linvilla Orchard Art Show and at the 11th and 12th Annual Arts and Crafts Shows in Media, PA. He has also received Third Prize in oil painting at the Crozer-Chester Arts and Crafts Show and Third Prize in sculpture at the 15th Annual National Art Show in Atlantic City, NJ. In addition to these accomplishments, he obtained three First Prizes at the Crozer-Chester Medical Center Art Show in 1984, 1985, and 1987. The recipient of the Chester Made Arts and Culture Trailblazer Award from the Pennsylvania Humanities Council in 2017, he was further honored with the Outstanding Young Men of America Award in 1987. On April 5, 1992 he was featured in a Philadelphia Inquirer Magazine article written by Mary Jane Fine entitled "The View from Chester."

Mr. Craig considers the highlight of his career to be winning the first art show he ever entered in 1976. He is also proud of the plaque outside of Crozer Hall, which is a historical site where Martin Luther King attended in the 1940s. In addition, he is glad to be the founder and participant of the Martin Luther King Committee in Crozer-Chester. Mr. Craig has previously been selected for inclusion in such honors publications as Who's Who in the East in 1995-1996.

In recognition of outstanding contributions to his profession and the Marquis Who's Who community, Courtlandt Lamont Craig has been featured on the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement website. Please visit www.ltachievers.com for more information about this honor.
