In 1982, he was active as a visiting associate at the European Organization of Nuclear Research, and as a McMinn lecturer at Vanderbilt University in 1996. Demonstrating an impressive professional skill set, he has completed work in such topics as neutrino oscillation, CP violation in hyperon decays, etc. Due to his knowledge in his field, Dr. Pakvasa has contributed several chapters and articles to relevant books and journals.
A prominent member in his field, Dr. Pakvasa was the recipient of the Alexander von Humboldt Award for Research in 2013. Previously, he was presented with the University of Hawaii Regent's Medal in 2009 for his work with particle physics warranted him. His honors are extensive, and he was notably invited as the Distinguished Ramanathan Professor to the Physical Research Laboratory in Ahmedabad, India in 2009. In 1976, Dr. Pakvasa was elected as a fellow of American Physical Society.
From a young age, Dr. Pakvasa has been interested in how the world works and has cultivated an interest in physics. Now celebrating a career punctuated with accomplishments, he is further noteworthy for his exemplary research with Hirotaka Sugawara.
