During his career, he has strategically allied with such global companies as ABC, CBS, Collins World, CNN, CTW (Children's Television Workshop), LCA (Licensing Corporation of America), Otto Maier Verlag, Purnell, PBS, 3M, and Warner Communication/Time Inc.
Over the years, Mr. Butterfield has served on numerous Boards including The Endowment for Biblical Research/Longyear Foundation Board of Trustees, the Mastery Learning Systems company Board, Rankin Properties Advisory Board, PTC Petalwink Advisory Board, Fast Pencil Inc. Board, and the University of Connecticut School of Business Hall of Fame Selection Board. He has also served on the Children's Book Council and the Association of American Publishers (AAP.)
Prior to embarking on his career, Mr. Butterfield pursued an education at Amherst College in Massachusetts, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts, cum laude, in 1971. Following this accomplishment, he obtained a Master of Arts in teaching from Harvard University in 1972. Mr. Butterfield concluded his studies with a Master of Business Administration from the University of Connecticut 1978.
For excellence in his career, Mr. Butterfield has been the recipient of a number of honors and accolades over the years. Inducted to the School of Business Hall of Fame at the University of Connecticut, he has previously been recognized as a Gardener Fletcher fellow, a Saint Clair Memorial fellow and an Amherst College fellow. Presented with an Achievement Award from the Wall Street Journal, Mr. Butterfield is also an elected member of Beta Gamma Sigma and Phi Delta Kappa International.
