BERGENFIELD, NJ, May 15, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present George R. Hill, Ph.D., with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Dr. Hill celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Dr. Hill retired in 2013 after a long and successful career in both music and academia. First hired as a librarian in the music division of the New York Public Library in 1966, he later served as an assistant within the music library at his alma mater, New York University (NYU), between 1971 and 1972. He also edited several pieces and contributed articles and reviews to professional journals, including "The New Grove Dictionary of Music and Musicians."

Greatly influenced by several mentors, Dr. Hill notes Putnam Aldrich, a professor at Stanford University, and Leonard Ratner from Stanford University, as resounding inspirations. A Past Master of the Independent Royal Arch Masonic Lodge #2 in New York, Dr. Hill is also a member and former treasurer of The Bohemians, a professional musicians club that meets on the first Monday of every month. Dr. Hill served as treasurer for 31 years.

He has since been cited in the 55th through 58th editions of Who's Who in America, the eighth edition of Who's Who in American Education, and the 26th and 27th editions of Who's Who in the East.

First earning a Bachelor of Arts in music, with honors, from Stanford University in 1965, Dr. Hill then completed a Master of Arts in library science from the University of Chicago in 1966 and a Doctor of Philosophy in historical musicology from NYU in 1975.
