With over 35 years of professional experience and an extensive educational background, Dr. Gable has been designated as a professor emerita with Indiana University since 2006. Initially earning an Associate of Science in 1969, she obtained a Bachelor of Science in Education from Indiana University in Indianapolis in 1976. Soon thereafter, Dr. Gable began her career as a clinical instructor for the dental hygiene program with the School of Dentistry at Indiana University. A certified dental assistant and a registered dental hygienist, she was presented with the Distinguished Dental Hygiene Alumna Award from Indiana University School of Dentistry in 1989.
Dr. Gable concluded her studies at Indiana University, earning a Master of Science in education in 1979 and a Doctor of Education in 1985. She subsequently found success with Indiana University holding faculty positions in the Schools of Education, Medicine, and Health and Rehabilitation Sciences with the posts of program director and assistant professor between 1977 and 1994. She progressed to the position of an associate professor and the chairperson for the Health Sciences department from 1994 to 2006. An expert in the field, Dr. Gable has previously contributed to articles published in professional journals and presented numerous invited presentations nationally and internationally.
To remain aware of change in the field, Dr. Gable is a member of the Indiana Association of Career and Technical Education, the Indiana Dental Hygienists Association, the Avon Community Schools Corporation and Sigma Phi Alpha. In light of the many highlights she experienced throughout her career, she proudly recalls being eponymously honored with a scholarship at Indiana University. For her accomplishments, Dr. Gable has been selected for inclusion in the editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Education, Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare, Who's Who in Science and Engineering, Who's Who in the Midwest and Who's Who in the World.
