Jeffery K. Patterson was appointed Chief Executive Officer and Safety Director by the CMHA Board of Commissioners in April 2012 after serving as CMHA's Interim CEO and Chief of Staff and Operations. Mr. Patterson has over twenty-four years of dedicated public service to the residents of Cuyahoga County through his employment both at CMHA and previously with the City of Cleveland.
As CEO of one of the 10 largest housing authorities in the country, he is responsible for a $260 million dollar budget, 1,000 employees, 10,500 units of housing, 15,000 housing choice vouchers, and nearly 55,000 residents and participants of CMHA's Low Income Public Housing and Housing Choice Voucher Programs. Mr. Patterson directs CMHA's efforts to be the leader in providing safe, affordable housing for low income residents of Cuyahoga County, while striving to use innovative sustainable practices and techniques to serve the residents of CMHA.
He is passionate about the community, helping others, and wants to make sure that CMHA the entity, as well as its residents/clients concerns are heard and included in the larger community discussion. To that end, he dedicates his time to serving on various Board of Directors, including: Cleveland Transformation Alliance; St. Luke's Foundation; Cleveland Neighborhood Progress; American Heart Association; Greater Cleveland Foodbank; Council for Large Public Housing Authorities; Housing Authority Insurance Group; North Central Regional Council for the National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials (NAHRO); Unify Project; Campus District; and Cleveland Rape Crisis Center.
As an expert in his field, Patterson possesses a Bachelors of Arts Degree from Mount Union College and a Master's Degree in Business Administration from Baldwin Wallace College.
In light of his professional accomplishments, Patterson has been recognized as part of Leadership Cleveland and "Who's Who in Black Cleveland" and is a recipient of the Campus District's Visionary Award, the Downtown Cleveland Alliance Development Award, Ohio City Inc. Presidential Award and acknowledged by Smart Business Magazine as the Nonprofit Executive Director of the Year. He is married and he and his wife have two daughters.
