After her husband exited the U.S. Navy, she settled in Westchester, NY. only to find herself having to furnish her beautiful home as well as her husband's new office in Manhattan. Certified by the New York School of Interior Design in 1973, she later pursued an education at the Parsons School of Design and earned an Associate of Applied Sciences in Interior Design in 1982. Mrs. Forester began working as a consultant in interior design, approaching the New School to teach courses in architecture, interiors and furniture.
Teaching at the school for more than 35 years now, Mrs. Forester has reverted to a part-time status in 2010 as an associate professor. During her tenure in academia, she also notably worked as an adjunct faculty member at New York University between 1997 and 2005. She lectured for NYU's Christie's Decorative Arts Summer School in 1998. Furthermore, Mrs. Forester lectured for numerous other organizations, including the Decorative Arts Summer School in 1998. Furthermore, Mrs. Forester held the role of a lecturer for numerous other organizations, including the Decorative and Fine Arts Society of New Jersey, the Scarsdale Adult School, the Bartow Pell Mansion, the Eastchester Historical Society and the Hudson River Museum.
Mrs. Forester further found success as a guest curator and an advisory board member of the Scarsdale Historical Society. She was also active as an advisory board member of the American Field Service Rye Country Day School and Lyndhurst, a property of the National Trust. An elected fellow of the RSA, Mrs. Forester has maintained membership with the Decorative Arts Trust. She earned a Bachelor of Arts from Cornell University in 1963 and a Master of Arts from Columbia University in 1964.
Authoring numerous works throughout her career, Mrs. Forester co-authored "At Home in Westchester, Style and Design, 1936-1986." She also authored "The Evolution of Elegant Dining" and "Raphael's Hours of the Day and Night at Lyndhurst," which appeared in The Westchester Historian.
Likewise, Mrs. Forester has been cited in approximately 40 editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in the East and Who's Who of American Women.
