With more than 60 years of professional experience, Ms. Chase has been a private voice teacher since 1977, and a synchronized swimming competitor, coach, teacher, official, and judge since 1956. In addition to her primary roles, she was director of music at Webster Presbyterian Church from 1972 to 2001, a voice teacher with Lee College from 1992 to 2004, and a voice teacher and choral director with San Jacinto College from 1977 to 1993. From 1976 to 1977, she was a member of the Houston Grand Opera Chorus, and she was an office nurse and lab technician with the Office of Dr. Terry Vincent from 1958 to 1959. Ms. Chases has also served as a staff nurse with Pasadena Bayshore Hospital from 1965 to 1969, Southeast Baptist Hospital from 1963 to 1964, Gulfway General Hospital from 1962 to 1963, St. Agnus Hospital from 1960 to 1961, Columbia Hospital from 1959 to 1960, and Methodist Hospital from 1957 to 1959.
Ms. Chase began her career as a student at Methodist Hospital School of Nursing, where she obtained a diploma in nursing in 1958. She then joined San Jacinto College, completing an Associate of Arts in vocal performance in 1972. She continued her studies with the University of Houston, receiving a Bachelor of Music in vocal performance in 1976, and she earned a Master of Arts in fine arts education from the University of Houston-Clear Lake in 1982. A registered nurse in the state of Texas, she has completed 30 hours of postgraduate coursework in choral conducting and vocal pedagogy.
A respected voice in her areas of interest, Ms. Chase has been an active leader in her community. She is a lifetime member of the Amateur Athletic Union and USSS, as well as a member of the Gulf Association and the National Amateur Athletic Union. She has also been affiliated with the Bay Area Youth Singers, the Texas Choral Directors Association, the American Choral Directors Association, and the National Association of Teachers of Singing.
Ms. Chase has been honored multiple times for her contributions to music education. In 2017, she received the USSS Lillian MacKellar Distinguished Service Award in recognition of selfless service and dedication to the enrichment of those encountered, as well as the Texas All State Choir Award from the Texas Music Educators Association in 1954. Named 2016 South Zone Contributor of the Year and 1990 Outstanding High School Voice Teacher by Baylor University, she was also recognized among Outstanding Young Women of America in 1973. She has been featured in numerous honors publications, including multiple editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in the World and Who's Who of American Women.
