Supported by five decades of practiced experience in music and education, Mr. Spradley has been retired since 2003. However, in his retirement, he continues to serve as a substitute teacher for various schools throughout the Mineral area of Missouri. Prior to this work, he was a vocal music director for Potosi High School from 1999 to 2003 and a longtime vocal and instrumental music director for kindergarten through 12th grade at the Southern Reynolds County R-2 School District in Ellington, Missouri, from 1971 to 1999. Mr. Spradley commenced his career in 1969 as a vocal and instrumental music director at Birch Tree Mountain View School District in Missouri, holding the position for two years.
Alongside his primary career endeavors, Mr. Spradley was the music director of the First Baptist Church in Piedmont, MO, from 1994 to 2000 and in First Baptist Church in Bonne Terre, MO from 2003 to 2019. He has held a Bachelor of Arts from Southwest Baptist University since 1969. In an effort to remain abreast of changes within the field, Mr. Spradley maintained affiliation with the Missouri Music Teachers Association, the American Choral Directors Association and the Southeast Missouri Teachers Association, where he served as junior high vocal vice president from 1995 to 1999.
Singing from an early age, Mr. Spradley participated in his high school and college choirs. When he was 17 years old, he began directing the church choir at the First Baptist Church in Arnold, Missouri, with his future wife being his first accompanist. He cites the highlight of his career to be when he directed a Broadway musical titled "Lil Abner," where he had 65 children acting in the play along with several live animals. Proud of this accomplishment, he was the only teacher on set. In addition, Mr. Spradley cites starting the Black River League All Conference Band and Choir in 1976 as a crowning achievement.
Married to Marjorie Gail Gowan since 1968, Mr. Spradley is the proud father of three children: Troy, Tod and Jason. In his spare time, he enjoys fishing and golfing. For excellence in his career, Mr. Spradley has previously been featured in Who's Who in America and Who's Who in American Education.
