For more than five decades, Mr. Ransom has led successful careers as a lawyer and a priest in Houston, Texas. He has been aligned with the Gulf Coast Legal Foundation in Houston as an attorney since 1980, previously serving the same role with the Texas Welfare Department in Houston from 1975 to 1980. Initially beginning his career as priest, Mr. Ransom was associated with the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston between 1968 and 1974.
An expert in the field, Mr. Ransom studied at Texas Southern University in 1956, earning a Bachelor of Science in mathematics. He continued his academic pursuits, securing a Bachelor of Arts in philosophy from Saint Joseph's College in Rensselaer, Indiana, during 1964, and later obtaining a Master of Arts in biblical theology at St. Louis University in 1970. Mr. Ransom furthered his efforts by receiving a Doctor of Jurisprudence from Texas Southern University in 1974, thus concluding his educational journey with a Master of Laws in taxation from Washington Law School in Salt Lake City during 1991.
Throughout his achievements in academia, he was admitted to the State Bar of Texas in 1974, the United States District Court for the Southern District of Texas in 1976, as well as the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit and the United States Supreme Court in 1980. Additionally, he was accepted into the United States Tax Court in 1991. Associated with the Roman Catholic Church, Mr. Ransom was ordained a priest during 1968.
Mr. Ransom is a former United States Navy Lieutenant, having served from 1957 to 1960. Other civic engagements to his credit include contributing as a member of the board of directors for the AIDS Foundation in Houston from 1993 to 1996. A respected voice in the industry, he is the author of the book "Uncertain Trumpet," which was published in 2011. An exceptionally distinguished Marquis listee, Mr. Ransom has been selected for inclusion in multiple editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Law, and Who's Who in the South and Southwest.
