Glenn Howard Mayes is proficient in mental health, drug and alcohol abuse, and home-based primary care.
LAWTON, OK, June 07, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Glenn Howard Mayes with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Mr. Mayes celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Proficient in mental health, drug and alcohol abuse, and home-based primary care, Mr. Mayes has been a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs since 2006. Prior to this position, he served as a Quality Improvement Director at the Jim Taliaferro Community Mental Health Center in Lawton, OK, from 1986 to 2006, previously working with the center since 1976. Through this role, Mr. Mayes wrote and received a Housing and Urban Development Continuum of Care Grant for over $450,000 to house homeless mentally ill and substance abuse clients in 1999. He was also responsible for developing and implementing, with team support, numerous projects that involved critical incident reporting, its intake and evaluation unit, the improvements of medication errors, seclusion and restraint use, inpatient documentation, staff injury reduction and clinical records.
Prior to embarking on his professional path, Mr. Mayes pursued a formal education at Cameron University in Oklahoma, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in 1977. Encouraged by the Director of Social Work at Jim Taliaferro Community Mental Health Center, Don Abbott, he went on to obtain a Master of Social Work from the University of Oklahoma in 1984. Additionally, he became a Certified Professional in Health Care Quality and the Academy of Certified Social Workers, among other certifications. Mr. Mayes became involved in his profession because he always wanted to work in the medical field. He always had the desire to be a doctor, but did not have the money or time to go to medical school. He started working at night at the mental health center when he was 20 years old, and studying at Cameron University during the day.
In congruence with his primary profession, Mr. Mayes has maintained affiliations with the National Association of Social Workers and the National Association of Healthcare Quality. Furthermore, he has received many awards and accolades for his contributions to his field. Mr. Mayes was the annual recipient of the Governor's Commendation Award for submitted agency quality improvement projects from Quality Oklahoma Team Days between 1999 and 2005, as well as the recipient of the Quality Crown Award in 1999 and the Red Tape Reduction Award in 2004. Soon thereafter, he received an additional Governor's Commendation Award from the State of Oklahoma in 2006 when he retired. Moreover, he is listed in the third edition of Who's Who Among Human Services Professionals, the 25th edition of Who's Who in the South and Southwest, and several editions of Who's Who in America and Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare.
In recognition of outstanding contributions to his profession and the Marquis Who's Who community, Glenn Howard Mayes has been featured on the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement website. Please visit www.ltachievers.com for more information about this honor.
