With more than 45 years of professional experience, Mr. Garrison was the executive director of the Heights Youth Center from 2007 to 2008. Prior to obtaining this role, in retirement he was the president and chief executive officer of the Lake View Cemetery Association in Cleveland from 1985 to 2005, and executive director of the Cleveland Eye Bank and the Cleveland Society for the Blind, now known as the Cleveland Sight Center, from 1983 to 1985. From 1981 to 1983, Mr. Garrison was the director of resource development at the Center for Human Services in Cleveland, where he was previously the director of personnel and training from 1974 to 1981.
Mr. Garrison served as a psychiatric social worker with Bellefaire JCB in Shaker Heights, Ohio, from 1967 to 1974, having been a caseworker with the United Cerebral Palsy Association of Philadelphia from 1964 to 1965. Earlier in his career, he was a caseworker with the Municipal Court of Chicago from 1963 to 1964 and a youth minister with St. John's United Church of Christ from 1962 to 1963. In addition to his primary roles, Mr. Garrison was an adjunct instructor with Case Western University from 1974 to 1980.
Prior to embarking on his career, Mr. Garrison pursued an education at Ohio Wesleyan University, where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts in psychology in 1962. Going on to continue his studies, he completed postgraduate coursework with the Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary from 1962 to 1963 and the University of Pennsylvania from 1963 to 1964. Joining Florida State University, Mr. Garrison received a Master of Social Work in 1967 before earning a Master of Science in management from Case Western University in Cleveland in 1976.
Throughout his career, Mr. Garrison has been recognized for his contributions, including with the Lifetime Humanitarian Award from the Rotary Club of Cleveland. He has also been featured in numerous honors publications, including multiple editions of Who's Who Among Human Service Professionals, Who's Who in Finance and Business, Who's Who in America, Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare, Who's Who in the Midwest and Who's Who in the World.
