Backed by 50 years of professional excellence, Dr. Roychoudhuri excels as a research professor in the Department of Physics at the University of Connecticut, where he previously worked as director of the Photonics Research Center. Earlier in his career, he served the University of Kalyani, India, the National Institute of Astrophysics, Mexico. Then he served high tech industries for 14 years with many innovative contributions: TRW Inc., Perkin Elmer and United Technologies Optical Systems (UTOS). He served UTOS as the Chief Scientist of the Optics and Advanced Technology Lab. Throughout his career, Dr. Roychoudhuri has conducted research on a wide range of technological applications, including on the applications of diode lasers in satellite communications, fiber optic communications, spectrometry, laser radar and desktop manufacturing, etc. For the last decade, his research has been focused on fundamental physics of the nature of photon and the limits of the mathematical Superposition Principle from the view point of practical applications.
An expert in his field, Dr. Roychoudhuri has earned a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science in physics from Jadavpur University, and a Doctor of Philosophy from the Institute of Optics, University of Rochester. In order to remain aware of changes in the field, he is affiliated with the Society of Photo-Optical Instrumentation (elected Fellow; served as a Board of Director), the Optical Society of America (elected Fellow, served as a Board of Director), the American Physical Society, IEEE Photonics Society, and the Connecticut Academy of Science and Engineering. Over the decades, he has also organized numerous technical conferences for some of these societies. With a plethora of knowledge at his disposal, Dr. Roychoudhuri authored "Causal Physics, Photon by Non-Interaction Waves," which was published in 2014, and edited another title, "The Nature of Light, What is a Photon?"
Additionally, Dr. Roychoudhuri has contributed his research to more than 100 articles in professional journals and a number of book chapters in several different subjects. For his outstanding work in the field, he was selected for inclusion in multiple editions of Who's Who in Finance and Industry, Who's Who in America, Who's Who in the East, Who's Who in the South and Southwest, Who's Who in the World, and Who's Who in Science and Engineering.
