With more than 50 years of professional experience in the field of Nursing, Ms. Bither was a labor and delivery nurse, a community hospital supervisor, a critical care nurse and an emergency Department nurse, a telephone advice nurse, a nursing educator, and a parish nurse in multiple communities in northern California, Oregon and Washington state from 1962 through 2014.
She was a staff nurse, emergency services, labor and delivery nurse and critical care nurse as well as a hospital nursing supervisor at Seaside Hospital in Crescent City, California from 1962-1980.
From 1980-1995 she was an MICN, Emergency Dept staff nurse, Interim Nurse manager, and an Emergency courses educator at St Joseph Hospital Trauma Center, in Eureka, California, a Community College EMT/Paramedic Instructor, and taught multiple allied course subjects in the College of Nursing at College of the Redwoods, in Eureka, California, a critical care nurse at Redwood Community Hospital in Fortuna, California, and Telephone Advice Nurse at General Hospital, in Eureka, California.
From 1985-1995 she was certified in and taught ACLS, ATLS, PALS and BLS at local courses in Humboldt County and held the office of Northern California Certification Instructor in for the state of California.
From 1989-1994 she was a Paramedic/Emergency Advisor for the Humboldt County/North Coast Emergency Medical Services and the Northern California Representative for Paramedic and Emergency Services for the State of California, including writing the regulations for Paramedic courses taught in California.
She was a telephone advice and health direct nurse with Brim Healthcare, now known as HealthTechS3, from 1995-2014 and a parish nurse with East Woods Community Church in Vancouver, Washington, from 2012-2014.
Prior to embarking on her career, Ms. Bither began her studies at the Deaconess Hospital School of Nursing, in Spokane, Washington, where she obtained a diploma in 1962. Continuing her studies with Humboldt State University in Arcata, California, she went on to earn a teaching certificate in 1984. She was a registered nurse in the states of California, Oregon and Washington Ms. Bither was also certified as a CEN/Certified Emergency Nurse and an MICN/Mobile Intensive Care Nurse in those states.
A respected voice in her areas of interest, Ms. Bither has been an active leader in her community. She has been a member of the Emergency Nurses Association, the International Order of Rainbow for Girls, the Order of the Eastern Star and the Presbyterian Church of the USA. A former CPR instructor for the American Heart Association, she was a first aid instructor with the National Safety Council, and a United States delegate to Russia and Eastern Europe for People to People International.
Throughout her career, Ms. Bither has been recognized for her contributions. The recipient of the Star of Life Award from North Coast Emergency Medical Services, she was named a State Officer by the California Jaycees and Nurse of the Year by the Humboldt Nurses Interest Group. In light of all her accomplishments, Ms. Bither has been featured in numerous honors publications, including multiple editions of Who's Who in America.
