Dr. Daniel Grangaard is a highly experienced and long-tenured educator and psychologist who currently serves as an adjunct professor of psychology with Austin Community College, where he has received a teaching excellence award and has taught since 1995. He has taught at several other universities over the years, including Baylor University, and for many years he ran a private practice in psychology, working with patients of all ages, and worked as a school psychologist. As a professor and researcher, his professional interests include developmental psychology, human sexuality, and personality variables that affect academic performance.
Dr. Grangaard began on his career path at Baylor University. There, he completed a Bachelor of Arts in 1972, as well as a Master of Science in 1974, and a Doctor of Education in 1976. He would then go on to become a licensed psychologist, as well as a licensed specialist in school psychology. From 1976 to 1985 he worked as a school psychologist, first at the Education Service Center for Region XII, and then at Austin Independent School District. In 1979 he began operating his own private practice, doing so until 1989, when he found himself with the Minirth-Meier Tunnell & Wilson Clinic. There, he worked as Chief Psychologist and Director of Testing and Internship Training until 1994. He then resumed his work in private practice, and began teaching at Austin Community College, where he would spend many years as an adjunct professor of psychology. Over the years Dr. Grangaard has also worked as a consulting psychologist at places such as the United Cerebral Palsy Association, the Austin Child Guidance Center, and the Genesis Behavioral Health Clinic, and for several years he was an adjunct professor of St. Edwards University. In the field, Dr. Grangaard has also contributed articles to professional journals, as well as chapters to medical textbooks.
Always actively involved in his community, he spent several years as a little league baseball coach, and served as a local representative at the Austin Neighborhood Council. He is also actively involved with the Evangelical Free Church in Austin, having formerly served as a church elder, as well as director of counseling. He also maintains professional affiliations with organizations such as the American Psychological Association, the Society for Teaching Psychology and the Texas Community College Teachers Association.
