Previously, he excelled at the Johns Hopkins University as an assistant professor of health services administration, an associate professor of health policy and management, the director of the Health Services Research & Development Center, a professor of health policy and management, an interim provost and the chair of the department of health policy and management. At the beginning of his career, Dr. Steinwachs completed service as a reserve officer and a captain in the United States Army.
A member of the National Academy of Sciences, Dr. Steinwachs has earned a Master of Science from the University of Arizona and a Doctor of Philosophy from the Johns Hopkins University. In order to remain aware of changes in the field, he is affiliated with the Association of Health Service Research and the Institute of Medicine. During his spare time, Dr. Steinwachs has contributed to his field through the Foundation for Health Service Research.
Although his career has been filled with highlights, Dr. Steinwachs is especially proud of developing data systems on health and wellbeing for the University of Arizona and the Johns Hopkins University. For his outstanding work, he was presented with a plethora of grants through the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, the Agency for Health Care Policy and Research and the National Institute of Mental Health. Looking toward the future, Dr. Steinwachs intends to continue parlaying his wealth of expertise to his students at Johns Hopkins University.
