Supported by more than 35 years of practiced experience, Ms. Abramson is an educator and poet who most recently served as an instructor at Lansing Community College, a position she held from 1976 until her retirement in 2002. During her tenure, she also acted as an editor and proofreader for the Michigan Education Association in East Lansing in 1987. She commenced her career in 1966 as an instructor at the Triptons High School for Girls in London. In retirement, Ms. Abramson continues to serve as a freelance researcher and editor.
To prepare for her career, Ms. Abramson pursued formal education at Wayne State University in Detroit, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts, cum laude, in 1964. From there, she attended the University of California Berkeley, receiving a Master of Arts, cum laude, in 1967. She then pursued postgraduate studies at Michigan State University from 1967 to 1974.
To remain abreast of recent developments in her industry, Ms. Abramson maintained affiliation with the National Education Association, the National Council of Teachers of English and the Michigan Association for Higher Education. She is the author of the forthcoming poetry book, "The Manifesto of the Red-Haired Woman Gunslinger: Collected Poems of Janet Abramson," which will be released this year. Impressively, Ms. Abramson won Second Place at the Ninth John David Johnson Memorial Awards for her poem "A Sharav in Jerusalem."
As a testament to her success, Ms. Abramson was highlighted in the eighth edition of Who's Who in American Education, as well as in the 24th and 25th editions of Who's Who in the Midwest. Happily married to the late Paul Robert Abramson for many years, she is the proud mother of two children and grandmother of one grandchild. In her spare time, Ms. Abramson enjoys reading, gardening, watching classic films, traveling and the arts.
