Mr. Coe retired as the executive director of the New York State Tug Hill Commission

A licensed professional engineer in the state of New York, Mr. Coe retired as the executive director of the New York State Tug Hill Commission, having served from 1973 to 1993. The commission was initially formed to examine and make recommendations about the third largest open space in the state of New York, and has continued for over 45 years. Notably, Mr. Coe was the commission's very first executive director. Prior to embarking on his career, he obtained a Bachelor of Arts at Bowdoin College and a Bachelor of Science in chemical engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1953.
Prior to his long and fruitful tenure with the Tug Hill Commission, Mr. Coe served as the executive director of the Volunteers in Technical Assistance, also known as VITA, in Schenectady, New York, from 1965 to 1973. Additionally, he acted as the organization's vice president from 1971 to 1973. Earlier in his career, Mr. Coe worked with the silicone products department of General Electric Co. in Waterford, New York, from 1953 to 1965, holding the position of process economics engineer from 1963 to 1965.
Furthermore, Mr. Coe is an active supporter of charity work both in his community and abroad. Sitting on the board of directors of the Jefferson County United Way from 1985 to 1991, he served as its president from 1992 to 1994. He is also a member of the Trinity Episcopal Church, having held a number of lay leadership positions over the years. As its founder, Mr. Coe spent two terms as the president of the Volunteer Transportation Center, an organization working to provide transportation to medical services, Mr. Coe also contributed on the board of directors from 2007 to 2013. Mr. Coe is a Past District Governor of Rotary International and has received the Rotary Foundation's highest award for his work to obtain financial and management support for projects in Central America and Western Africa.
