With over 45 years of professional experience to his credit, Mr. Handy has served as a financial adviser representative for ViaQuest Financial Group in Houston since 1999. Prior to this role, he was active as the executive director of the Brazoria County Historical Museum in Angleton, Texas, from 1992 to 1999 and the president of Development Resources International Co., Ltd., in Houston from 1988 to 1999. Earlier in his career, Mr. Handy cultivated his expertise with the Houston World Trade Association, Gulf Coast World Affairs Council and the College of the Mainland in Texas City, Texas.
Alongside his primary career responsibilities, Mr. Handy held the role of adjunct faculty with Alvin Community College in Texas from 1994 to 1998. Impressively, he also spent 51 years in the annual policy study-discussion program sponsored nationally by the New York's Foreign Policy Association. Furthermore, he has been a book reviewer for the Houston Chronicle, an editor for In Between Magazine, and a publisher and editor for Foreign Affairs. In 1959, Mr. Handy enlisted with the United State Navy, where he rose to the rank of Electricians mate second class by 1962.
Incredibly active in his local community as well, Mr. Handy has contributed his skills to the Galveston County Community Action Council, the La Marque Aid and Guidance Council, the La Marque Economic Development Corporation and the Galveston County Council of Chambers. Involved with the European Community Visitors Program in the 1980s, he was active as a delegate to Czechoslovakia, Belgium, Germany, France and England in 1981 and was appointed to Team 1992 in 1989.
Pursuing an education at Portland State University in Oregon, Mr. Handy earned a Bachelor of Science in history and political science in 1969 and a Master of Arts in American diplomatic history in 1971. He has also holds Series 7 and 65 certification through the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA).
