Ms. Tibbals celebrates more than 50 years in nursing and education. Working throughout Oklahoma, Florida and Pennsylvania in a variety of settings, she is currently affiliated with Excell Home Health and Hospice. Since joining the team in 2014, she has been responsible for developing the Advanced Practice Registered Nurse-Clinical Nurse Specialist (APRN-CNS) Home Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation and Wellness program. Founded in 1996, Excell is based in Oklahoma City and operates in various counties throughout the state, providing home health, hospice, personal and palliative care services.
Previously spending 50 years in the field, Ms. Tibbals was an evening charge nurse, recovery room charge nurse, pulmonary nurse clinician and respiratory nurse clinician at various hospitals. She also served as the director of public health nurse II at the Mary Sand Clinic within the Polk County Health Department in Winter Haven, Florida. Further, Ms. Tibbals spent 25 years in education as a professor of nursing at Oklahoma City Community College, assistant professor of nurse science at Oklahoma State University and assistant professor of the Acute Care CNS program at the University of Oklahoma College of Nursing. As a result of her years of dedication and expertise, Ms. Tibbals has contributed several chapters to books in her area of expertise. She also served as a reviewer for the book "A Guide for People with Chronic Lung Disease," published through Pritchett & Hull & Co. and authored "The Air is Human."
Participating in several civic engagements throughout her career, Ms. Tibbals formerly served as a facilitator for a local family support group and as a volunteer and of the St. James Church food pantry. She continues to volunteer for Better Breather's Clubs in Oklahoma since 1976. Ms. Tibbals earned a diploma from St. Edward Mercy Nursing School in 1965. An alumnus of the University of Oklahoma, she later achieved both a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Master of Science in Nursing in 1979 and 1982, respectively. She is a certified clinical specialist in Medicine-Surgery nursing and received a certificate in respiratory nursing through Texas Woman's University.
Maintaining affiliation with several industry-related organizations, Ms. Tibbals has been a member of Sigma Theta Tau, the American Nurses Association, the American Thoracic Society and the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation, among others.
