    BROOKLINE, MA, July 18, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Diane Shugrue Gallagher with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Ms. Gallagher celebrates many years' experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. Prior to embarking on her professional path, Ms. Gallagher earned an Associate in Theater Arts from Colby-Sawyer College in 1957. She then attended the Neighborhood Playhouse School of the Theatre, New York City, and studied with Sanford Meisner and Martha Graham. Ms. Gallagher received a Bachelor of Science degree from Lesley University.

Ms. Gallagher was a partner at the Bare Cove Art Gallery from 1967 to 1982. During this time, she additionally held the position of a newspaper columnist for the South of Boston Mirror from 1973 to 1976. She was a television talk show host for WBZ-TV from 1974 to 1978 and was Placement Director for Katharine Gibbs School from 1979 to 1983. Ms. Gallagher served as a human resources representative for Wang Laboratories from 1983 to 1985.

Appointed to the Boston Council of International Visitors from 1970 to 1980, Ms. Gallagher was a volunteer career counselor while working at Fidelity Investments as a human resources representative at the Madison Park, Humphrey Center High School in Roxbury from 1981 to 1990 as well as being a Board Member with the Greater Boston Rehabilitation Services. Ms. Gallagher served as a Peace Corps volunteer in Cape Verde, West Africa from 1990 to 1992. Upon returning to the United States, Ms. Gallagher was a senior recruiter for the Peace Corps from 1993 to 1998. Ms. Gallagher then became the Director of recruitment for the United States Census Bureau from 1998 to 2000. In 2000, she became the nursing history and university archivist at the Gotlieb Archival Research Center at Boston University where she continues to work today.

Throughout her career, Ms. Gallagher has demonstrated an unwavering passion for her ideals. When writing a newspaper column focusing on women, she experienced property damage and other negative reactions to her beliefs. Undeterred, she continued to uphold her feminist outlook and went on to pursue a thriving career in recruiting and human resources.

Ms. Gallagher has received many awards. Her numerous awards include: Distinguished Alumni Award, Colby Sawyer College; Who's Who of American Women 1997 Edition; Appointed by President Carter to the International Women's Year Commission; Appointed by Governor Dukakis to the Governor's Commission on the Status of Women; Appointed by Governor Sargent to the Governor's Commission of the Status of Women; United States Presidents' Volunteer Award; The Lillian Carter Award; Honorary Member of the Sigma Theta Tau International Nursing Society; and the American Nurses Association of Massachusetts Friend of Nursing Award.

A published author, Ms. Gallagher wrote "Lure of Service: My Peace Corps Adventures at Middle Age" in 2012. Ms. Gallagher continues to be involved with the United States Peace Corps giving speeches about Peace Corps around the country. Ms. Gallagher is a member of the board of the Cape Verde Child Care Coalition and the Harvard Park Condo Association. Ms. Gallagher has been a member of the Harvard Host Family Program since 1976.
