A leading expert in the field of furniture craftsmanship, Mr. Meyer has found success with Woodstock Woodworks and Studio, Ltd., as the owner, a designer and a craftsman since 2015. Prior to establishing his own firm, he worked as a teacher and a woodworker with a number of organizations. Mr. Meyer attributes his success to his background in both education and woodworking, as it has taught him both the skills needed to make quality products and the customer service skills needed to thrive in the marketplace.
Mr. Meyer initially pursued an education with the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where he obtained a Bachelor of Science in occupational and practical art education in 1980. He continued his studies with the aforementioned school, earning a Master of Education in vocational and technical education in 1981. He later enrolled at the Wendell Castle Workshop, graduating with an Associate of Occupational Studies in furniture design and construction in 1985. Likewise, Mr. Meyer holds a general administrative certification, a teaching certification for grades 6 through 12, and a professional education license in the state of Illinois.
Throughout his career, Mr. Meyer has been celebrated for his contributions to his areas of expertise. The recipient of an Excellence Award from the State Superintendent, he was also presented with an Award of Excellence and recognition among Those Who Excel by the Illinois State Board of Education. Furthermore, Mr. Meyer accepted the LeaderShop Academy fellowship, also from the Illinois State Board of Education.
