Previously, she found success as a partner of Innerplan from 1978 to 1982 and as a senior interior designer and associate for John Carl Warnecke and Associates from 1971 to 1978. Prior to these appointments, Ms. Owen began her career with the International Knoll Planning Unit in New York City from 1968 to 1971.
An expert in her field, Ms. Owens studied at the University of Munich-Blocher School and the New York School of Interior Design, where she sits on the advisory board. Furthermore, she completed coursework at Harvard Business School. In order to remain aware of changes in the field, Ms. Owens was affiliated with the American Institute of Architects and the American Society of Interior Designers.
In a career filled with highlights, Ms. Owen is especially proud of her work with numerous other entities, including Chase Manhattan Bank, Goldman Sachs, Commerzbank, Republic National Bank, The German American Chamber of Commerce, the Belgium Consulate, the Waldorf Astoria Hotel, many high end stores including Christian Dior and Charles Jourdan, high-end residences, and the renovation of an old palace in Marrakesh, Morocco, awarded by Landmarks. Her main accomplishment was to have presided over the first women-owned firm in New York to have worked on many high level financial Institutions, which was normally a field reserved for men. The most rewarding aspect of her profession was creating, changing and improving the environments of her clients.
Due to her professional excellence, she has been celebrated with a plethora of awards, such as First Prize for Best Design from the American Society of Interior Designers, First Prizes from the Institute of Business Designers and Interior Design Magazine, and an Award in 100 Best Interior Designers Worldwide from Architectural Digest, among many others. Looking toward the future, Ms. Owen lives a very active life in retirement.
