With nearly 50 years of professional experience, Ms. Sarraf had her own planning consultant practice from 1982 to 2013. Providing assistance to local municipalities and developers in Western Pennsylvania in the area of land development and its regulation. Prior to obtaining this role, she served as the director of community development for the Township of Upper St. Clair, Pennsylvania, from 1976 to 1982. Earlier in her career, Ms. Sarraf worked as a planner with the Pennsylvania Department of Community Affairs from 1970 to 1976, where she also served as an instructor from 1976 to 1995.
Ms. Sarraf began her career as an intern of Rep. James G. Fulton in 1965. Pursuing an education at this time as well, she obtained a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Pittsburgh in 1967. She went on to continue her studies with the university, earning a Master of Urban and Regional Planning in 1969. Ms. Sarraf is certified by the American Institute of Certified Planners.

A member of the American Planning Association, she holds further membership with the National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials and the Pennsylvania Planning Association. She has also been active with Women in Community Development, the American Federation of Musicians, the Graduate School Alumni Association, the American Institute of Certified Planners, the Three Rivers Corvette Club and the Mount Lebanon Lions Club.
Throughout her career, Ms. Sarraf has been recognized for her contributions. Notably, she has been featured in numerous honors publications, including multiple editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in the East, Who's Who in the World and Who's Who of American Women. Having accomplished much over the course of her career, Ms. Sarraf is proud of her role assisting local officials in carrying out their responsibilities for the betterment of their communities. She also enjoyed acting as an expert witness and working with attorneys.
