YELLOW SPRINGS, OH, July 24, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Katherine Kadish with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Ms. Kadish celebrates many years' experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. With over 50 years of professional experience, Ms. Kadish has devoted her entire career to serving as an artist and art educator since 1963. Inspired to a career in art by her aunt, Christine Fowler, she cultivated her passion for art and art education to pursue it as a vocational path. With her father being supportive and receptive of her talents as well, he provided Ms. Kadish her very first camera to use.
A graduate of Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Ms. Kadish earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 1961. She then began graduate work at the University of Chicago in the Department of Art History receiving her degree in 1966. In 1966, Ms. Kadish travelled to Egypt and several European countries completing her Master's thesis on Alfred Stieglitz' Camera Work at the British Library. Her first professional job began in 1963 as both curator of the Print and Slide Collection in the art department at the State University of New York at Binghamton and as Co-Director in the University's art gallery.
As she continued advancing through her career, Ms. Kadish served as a visiting and adjunct professor for multiple institutions including the Ohio State University, Wright State University, Wittenberg University, the Cleveland Institute of Art and the Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts between 1982 and 1994. Additionally, she was selected to be an artist-in-residence for the Montpelier Cultural Arts Center in Laurel, Maryland, in 1986. As a testament to her success, she has been the recipient of six awards from the Ohio Arts Council and has received grants from the Creative Artists Public Service Program. During 1986-1987, she lived and worked in China and received a grant from the United Board for Christian Higher Education in Asia. She has also worked in Korea. Likewise, Ms. Kadish has been chosen for residency fellowships including Yaddo, the Tyrone Guthrie Centre, the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, the Vermont Studio Center and the Ludwig Vogelstein Foundation.
