Accruing more than 40 years of experience, Dr. Wang is currently a professor of electrical engineering at Alfred University in New York. His initially position at the university was as an assistant professor in 1988, which he held before becoming an associate professor in 1993. Dr. Wang began his career at the University at Buffalo, a part of the State University of New York system, where he worked as a postdoctoral research associate from 1987 to 1988. Following those positions, Dr. Wang excelled as a member of the summer faculties for the Air Force Research Laboratory at the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, the Argonne National Laboratory, and the Civil Engineering Laboratory from 1992 to 1995. Within that time, he accepted the post of a visiting associate professor at Florida State University for the spring semester of 1994.
Prior to embarking on his career path, Dr. Wang pursued his early studies in China. He attended Harbin Engineering University, formerly known as the Harbin Naval Engineering Institute, and received a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering in 1978. He subsequently obtained a Master of Science in physics from Hangzhou University in 1981. Dr. Wang then relocated to the United States in 1982, when he further studied physics at the University at Buffalo and graduated with a Doctor of Philosophy in 1987.
An established authority in his field, Dr. Wang has published over 100 papers in Physical Review Journal, Applied Physics Letters and other journals. These titles include "Functional ITO coatings on glasses by RF plasma mist technique in ambient atmosphere," "Potential cooperation in renewable energy between China and the United States of America," and "To Infinity and Beyond: Outer Space Applications of 3-D Ceramics Printed via Ink Jet Methods," which was the cover story of the American Ceramic Society Bulletin in 2018. Dr. Wang has so far acquired a total of $1.5 million in research grants from various industrial sponsors including the Center for Advanced Ceramic Technology, the Battelle Memorial Institute in 2002, and the National Science Foundation in 1994.
Outside of his immediate professional responsibilities, Dr. Wang is an active member of the American Physical Society. An expert on clean energy, he participated in a panel discussion, titled "Where is Technology Headed?," at the 2018 Congressional Clean Energy Expo and Policy Forum. Joined by other notable names in the field, Dr. Wang spoke on the importance of education and the need for new technology savvy power engineers.
