A registered nurse in the state of Ohio, Ms. Hyett initiallyearned a diploma from the Ruth Brant School of Nursing in Martins Ferry, Ohio, in 1954. After becoming certified in basic cardiac life support and advanced cardiovascular life support, she was hired by Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, Florida, as a nurse for six months. Subsequent to this appointment, Ms. Hyett found success with Barnesville Hospital in Barnesville, Ohio, holding the posts of a day supervisor, a head nurse, an obstetrics supervisor, and a home health staff nurse.
Ms. Hyett would later conclude her tenure with Barnesville Hospital as an office nurse from 1991 until her retirement in 2011. Initially interested in becoming a teacher, she was encouraged to pursue nursing by her mother during her time in high school. Throughout her career, Ms. Hyett truly enjoyed working as a home health nurse because of the satisfaction she received from providing care to her patients.
For Ms. Hyett, it was a rewarding experience to feel like a part of her patient's families as well. She has also maintained her membership with the Ruth Brant School of Nursing Alumni Association. Currently residing in Barnesville, Ms. Hyett is the widow of the late John Richard Hyett and is the proud aunt of three adult children, Rick, Vickie, and Scott.
