Supported by many years of professional excellence, Mr. Forrester flourished as an agricultural educator for more than three decades. Now retired, his most recent appointment was as the owner and a consultant of Forrester Consulting Service in Olympia in 1991, having previously worked as an administrator of vocational education for the Superintendent of Public Instruction in Olympia between 1989 and 1991. During his tenure in the aforementioned position, he held the posts of the director and a supervisor of agricultural education from 1972 to 1989. Earlier in his career, Mr. Forrester contributed intermittently as a teacher of agricultural education at Ellensburg School District between 1951 and 1972.
Other professional endeavors to Mr. Forrester's credit include serving as the owner of a commercial hay and cattle ranch in Ellensburg between 1960 and 1976. Between 1954 and 1956, he was active as a lieutenant colonel in the United States Air Force, completing his service with the Air Force Reserve until 1974. Civically, Mr. Forrester has contributed as the director of the Washington Future Farmers of America in Olympia since 1982, was associated with the Washington State Fairs Commission and the Thurston County Fair Board from 1976 and 1988, and served on the AART National Policy Council for eight years. Mr. Forrester has been a very active member of Kiwanis for over 50 years and was president of the Olympia chapter in 1981-1982, then Governor of Division 38. He maintained his affiliation with the American Vocational Association, the Washington Vocational Association, the National Vocational Agricultural Teachers Association, the Washington Vocational Agricultural Teacher Association, and the Retired Officers Association, among other organizations. After retiring, he has been very active in the Washington State School Retirees; Association and served as State President in 2008-2009.
Mr. Forrester initially pursued an education at Washington State University, earning a Bachelor of Science and a Bachelor of Education in 1951. He later became certified as a teacher and as a vocational director in the state of Washington. Utilizing his vast knowledge, Mr. Forrester has authored a number of articles for professional journals.
For his accomplishments in the field, Mr. Forrester accepted the Governor's Citation from the state of Washington in 1991, and the Meritorious Service Award from the Washington Commission for Vocation Education in 1985. Likewise, he has been selected for inclusion in the fourth edition of Who's Who in American Education. Outside of his primary responsibilities, Mr. Forrester enjoys gardening, elk hunting, softball, and spending time with his grandchildren.
