Having accrued almost 50 years of experience, Dr. Zunino currently works as a supervisor at the Center for the Study of Anorexia and Bulimia in addition to owning and operating out of her private practice. She was a participant in the Eastern Group Psychotherapy Training Program from 1997 to 1998, as well as a participant in the intensive-external program for the Family Institute of Westchester from 1990 to 1994. Furthermore, she found success as a psychotherapist for the Institute of Contemporary Psychotherapy from 1988 to 1990.
Dr. Zunino served as a faculty member at the Center for the Study of Anorexia and Bulimia from 1987 to 1996. She began her career as a researcher for Time-Life Books in 1962. In the years since, she has also held the positions of a staff psychotherapist for the Metropolitan Center for Mental Health and the Washington Square Institute, a supervisor for the Metropolitan Institute for Training in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy, and both a supervisor and a faculty member for the Eating Disorder Resource Center.
Prior to her professional career, Dr. Zunino studied at Mount Holyoke College in Massachusetts and earned a Bachelor of Arts in 1959. She subsequently earned a Master of Arts from both Columbia University in 1962 and New York University in 1975. Remaining at New York University, she pursued further coursework and graduated with a Doctor of Philosophy in 1982.
Outside of her immediate job responsibilities, Dr. Zunino contributed on the executive committee for the Center for the Study of Anorexia and Bulimia from 2006 to 2014, for which she was also an active member of the Intake Committee from 1997 to 2014. Additionally, she accepted the post of an adjunct assistant professor at the College of Staten Island from 1984 to 1986. She is a valuable member of both the American Psychological Association and the National Eating Disorders Association.
Moreover, Dr. Zunino is a prolific contributor of articles to professional journals. She had maintained the position of senior editor with Harcourt, formerly known as Harcourt Brace Jovanovich, from 1967 to 1980. She was also the editor of "Sociology: The Study of Human Relationships," published in 1972, and "Psychology: Its Principles and Applications," published in 1969.
