After graduating from Whitman College in 1966 with a Bachelor of Science, Mr. Rew enrolled at Washington State University, earning a Master of Science in 1968. He concluded his studies at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, earning a Doctor of Science in 1972. Mr. Rew began his career as a research associate with the University of Notre Dame between 1972 and 1976, further progressing to the role of microbiologist for the United States Department of Agriculture from 1976 to 1982. Mr. Rew later was hired as a senior research fellow with Merck Institute between 1982 and 1986, in which his final year was a position of visiting scientist with the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (CSIRO) in Sydney, Australia between 1985 and 1986.
Mr. Rew then moved to GlaxoSmithKline pic in West Chester, PA as manager of parasitology research where he was employed from 1986-1990. In 1990, Mr. Rew was hired by Pfizer Inc to serve as manager of technical services and associate director of product development between 1990 and 2004. Mr. Rew formed a consulting business (Rewsearch LLC), and consulted for Pfizer Inc, Zoetis Inc, and Smart Vet Inc between 2004 and 2019.
Morever, Mr. Rew had maintained his involvement with the House of His Creation, Encuentro Ministries, The Smallest Seed, and Chester County prison. He has also participated as a missionary of Nigeria, Kenya, and South Africa. A published author, Mr. Rew's written works include "Agricultural Chemicals of the Future", "Antimicrobial Therapy in Veterinary Medicine", "Chemotherapy of Parasite Diseases","Macrocylic Lactones for Anti-Parasitic Therapy".
Throughout his career, Mr. Rew has also worked as an adjunct professor, a teaching assistant, and director for Doctors for Life Inti on a malaria program 2005-2006. To remain aware of changes in the field, he remains affiliated with the American Association of Veterinary Parasitologists, Helminthological Society of Washington, and World Association for the Advancement of Veterinary Parasitologists. Mr Rew functioned as president of Rew Ranches Inc from 2004-2019. Outside of his primary responsibilities, Mr. Rew enjoys teaching and counseling prison inmates in his spare time.
