With nearly 50 years of professional experience to her credit, Dr. Coelho found success as the K-12 technical and mathematics coordinator for the East Windsor Board of Education in Connecticut between 2007 and 2008, having previously worked in the same capacity with the organization from 1965 and 2002. Likewise, she has excelled as an associate director of mathematics with the Project to Increase Mastery of Mathematics and Science at Wesleyan University and an advisor for the Addison-Wesley Connected Mathematics Services. Furthermore, she has served as a consultant for PIMMS, the Connecticut Academy and the Enfield Town Hall between 2002 and 2008. Dr. Coelho began her career as a teacher for the Torrington Board of Education from 1962 to 1965.
Other professional endeavors to Dr. Coelho's credit include contributing as the chairman of the town wide curriculum committee for East Windsor as well as the Windsor Technical Committee, respectively. Additionally, she contributed to Addison Wesley Connect Metal as the president of the advisory board in 2008 and Corwin Press as an educational reviewer. A member of the National Education Association, Dr. Coelho has maintained her affiliation with the Connecticut Education Association, the Connecticut Council of Leaders of Mathematics, and the East Windsor Education Association, for which she previously held the post of the president.
Dr. Coelho initially pursued an education at the Central Connecticut State University, earning a Bachelor of Science in 1962 and a Master of Science in 1969. She continued her studies at Central Connecticut State University with a certification in intermediate administration in 1980. Dr. Coelho concluded her studies with a Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Richmond in 2006.
For her accomplishments in the field, Dr. Coelho has been nominated for the Golden Apple Award. She was further honored as an Apple Computer scholar as well as PIMMS fellow. Likewise, Dr. Coelho has been selected for inclusion in multiple editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Education, Who's Who in the East, Who's Who in the World, and Who's Who of American Women.
