PARDEEVILLE, WI, August 02, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Erin M. Salmon has been included in Marquis Who's Who. Inspired by the example and influence of her father Dennis Norton, who pursued a career in engineering and surveying, Ms. Salmon entered the field of civil engineering and now serves as the Director of Public Works for the Village of Pardeeville, WI. Having accumulated more than 18 years of experience, she maintains responsibility for the maintenance, repair, and operations of public infrastructure. Ms. Salmon's additional duties include the caring of village properties, infrastructure, parks, budget and capital planning, maintaining the required regulatory reports to ensure compliance with DNR and other regulatory agencies. She also plans and directs the procedure requirements for snow removal, street cleaning and pest control. Additionally, she solicits, analyzes, and recommends bids for construction and coordinates with Village consulting engineers to assist in the preparation of plans, specifications, and bid documents for capital improvement projects. Ms. Salmon is motivated every day to think outside the box and face challenges directly. She is driven by a fundamental desire to help others regardless of personal profit.
Previously, Ms. Salmon gained valuable expertise in the public works sector and field of engineering as a technician for the City of Sun Prairie from 2001-2013. Also, for the City of Portage from 2013-2019. Ms. Salmon explored the private sector as an Operations Manager for a local asphalt paving company in the summer of 2015. She enjoyed this line of work satisfying, but knew her passion was in public works. Some of her earliest industry experiences include working for the Wisconsin Department of Transportation's Bureau of Highway Construction and Paulson & Associates, LLC, as well as serving in the U.S. Army.
Before affiliating with the City of Sun Prairie, Ms. Salmon earned an Associate degree in Civil Engineering Technology from Madison Area Technical College in 2001. She has continued her education through the APWA and obtained certification as a PWM (public works manager) in 2015. She currently is enrolled in classes through the MEUW and UW Madison Extension for leadership in management in public works and managing an electric utility. She continues her involvement with the APWA, Wisconsin Chapter and the MEUW. Looking ahead, Ms. Salmon intends to encourage young individuals who are unsure of their career path to look into the civil engineering and public works sector.
