With more than 30 years of experience in elementary education to her credit, Ms. Cross has become an authority in her industry. She began her career path as a teacher at the Benton Area School District Common School District 51 from 1958 to 1959. Subsequently serving Foley Public Schools, she was a fourth-grade teacher from 1960 to 1964, a first-grade teacher from 1964 to 1966, a sixth-grade teacher from 1966 to 1985, and a Chapter I teacher from 1985 to 1998. Ms. Cross ended her career in 1998 after 12 years as the chairperson of the Chapter One Department of Foley Public Schools.
Prior to becoming an esteemed educator, Ms. Cross pursued higher education with a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science from St. Cloud State University in 1956 and 1964, respectively. Apart from her career, she volunteered in her field and community. Ms. Cross excelled as a clerk at the Benton Stearns Education District from 2005 to 2007, the chair of the Foley Public School Board in 2006, the daffodil chair of the American Cancer Society from 1986 to 2007, a volunteer at the Foley Area Care Program, and Board of Directors member of the Foley Cross Center from 2000 to the present day.
Outside of her professional responsibilities, Ms. Cross remains informed of the changes and advancements in her industry through relevant organizations. She is a member of the Foley Public School Board and the Minnesota State Board of Education. Likewise, Ms. Cross sat on the board of directors of the Benton Stearns Education District from 2004 to 2010 and the Minnesota School Board Association from 2004 to 2005.

She received the Leadership in Education Excellence Award from Central Minnesota Educational Research & Development Council in 1996 and was named Teacher of the Year by Foley Public Schools. Ms. Cross has been featured in several editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in the World and Who's Who of American Women.
