This brand of empowerment inspired Mr. Ament to embark on a career in psychology in order to assist children to reach their fullest potential. He prepared for his vocation by attending the University of Wisconsin, Eau Claire, where he obtained a Bachelor of Science in 1972. He continued his studies with the University of Wisconsin-Stout, earning a Master of Science in education in 1974.
In addition to his professional responsibilities, Mr. Ament has been civically involved in a number of efforts.
