An accomplished listee, Ms. de Pinho celebrates many years' experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. Ms. de Pinho was a tenured educator who taught at the Holton-Arms School in Bethesda, MD, from 1969 to 2004. A college preparatory school that serves more than 600 girls in grades three through 12, she first taught French language and literature at Holton-Arms. Subsequently, Ms. de Pinho accepted the position as chair of the foreign language department at the Holton-Arms School. She was also the AP art history teacher. Since 2004, she has been an active member of the Alliance Francaise of Newport, Rhode Island.
Ms. de Pinho's previous teaching appointments included teaching French language, culture and civilization at the Potomac School in McLean, Virginia from 1966 to 1969 and both French language and literature at Saint Timothy's School in Stevenson, Maryland from 1964 to 1966. During her career at Holton-Arms, she also worked as an adjunct professor of French language at American University in Washington, D.C. from 1983 to 1984. Ms. de Pinho was a member of several professional organizations, including the Modern Language Association, the American Association of Teachers of French, the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages and the National Museum of Women in the Arts.
She was responsible for establishing a scholarship program at Holton-Arms through the American Field Service (AFS) Intercultural Programs. This was a very rewarding time in Ms. de Pinho's career. An international, voluntary, non-governmental, non-profit organization, the AFS Intercultural Programs provide intercultural learning opportunities to help people develop the knowledge, skills and understanding needed to create a more just and peaceful world. Ms. de Pinho served as a volunteer for the organization's Holton-Arms School chapter between 1970 and 1980.
A 1964 graduate of Sarah Lawrence College, Ms. de Pinho spent her junior year at the Sorbonne and the Art Institute in Paris. She later attended American University, where she earned a Master's degree in 1984. Completing postgraduate coursework at the Johns Hopkins University during 1991, she was a certified French teacher in Maryland and a certified art historian through the Smithsonian Institution. A celebrated Marquis listee, Ms. de Pinho has been featured in the 20th edition of Who's Who of American Women.
