An acclaimed educator with more than two decades of automotive experience, Mr. Marquez has served as a program director for the Transportation Technology Program and the Automotive/Diesel Program at Palm Beach States College since 2014. In the course of his daily responsibilities, he coordinates strategic program planning, curriculum development, and course analysis. Mr. Marquez likewise monitors both programs in order to maintain compliance with third-party accreditation foundations. Moreover, he manages program budgets inclusive of revenue patterns, expenditures, activity, training costs, and payroll. Additionally, he serves as the chair of the Business Partners Advisory Committee.
Prior to joining Palm Beach State, Mr. Marquez worked as an automotive technology associate degree professor and an instructor for Mech-Tech College from 2011 until 2014. Prior to holding the aforementioned roles, he found success as an automotive technology program director for John Dewey College between 2005 and 2006. Mr. Marquez's inaugural role in the field was that of a program director for Automeca Technical College from 1993 to 2005.
Following his appointment as an auto-mechanics technician with the Puerto Rico Department of State review board in 1993, Mr. Marquez continued to further his education. In addition to earning certifications in biblical studies through the Hosana Biblical Institute, he graduated magna cum laude from the Universidad del Turabo in 2007 with a Bachelor of Arts in secondary education, as well as vocational, industrial, and technical education. Mr. Marquez concluded his academic efforts at the University of Central Florida, earning a Master of Arts in career and technical education in 2019.
A devout adherent of his Christian faith, Mr. Marquez serves as an ordained pastor through the World International Christian Council of Independent Ministers of the United States ARCA Corp. He maintains his professional alignment with the Association for Career and Technical Education, the Florida Association of Career and Technical Education, the Florida Association of Governmental Fleet Administrators, the Automotive Service Association, and the Puerto Rico Automotive Technicians and Mechanics Association. In the coming years, Mr. Marquez intends to continue teaching and possibly open up a new campus for his transportation programs at Palm Beach State College.
