Prof. Wang is a civil engineer and an educator with more than 20 years of distinction and accomplishment in his field. He attended Tongji University, Shanghai, graduating in 2000 with a Bachelor of Science. Prof. Wang completed his Master of Science at the University of Washington in 2002, before attending Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana, earning his doctorate from the Lyles School of Civil Engineering at Purdue in 2005.
Since 2011, Prof. Wang has been a professor at Curtin University in Perth, Western Australia. From 2012 to 2018, he excelled as the aforementioned institution's Curtin-Woodside Chair for Oil, Gas & LNG Construction and Project Management. He has acted as the director of the Australasian Research Centre for Building Information at Curtin University since 2012, growing a team of nearly 50 research staff, securing over $30 million in research funding, and overseeing the publication of more than 600 scholarly articles. Prof. Wang subsequently found success on the Australian Research Council's College of Experts from 2016 to 2018. He was also elected into European Union Academy of Sciences as a Fellow in 2018.
Prof. Wang is on the board of directors of the International Society of Computing in Civil and Building Engineering, and the International Association of Automation and Robotics in Construction, highly regarded societies in the field of automation in construction. Prof. Wang's work in oil and gas, mining, and public infrastructure has been cited more than 7000 times in publications, and he has been invited to deliver more than 125 keynotes, public talks, and conference presentations on his work. Since 2012, Prof. Wang has served as the editor-in-chief of the Springer-NATURE Journal of Visualization in Engineering which is ranked as Q1 (tier 1) journal in SJR.
