Supported by more than 40 years of professional experience, exceptional educational background and a lifetime of community service, Mr. Grinberg excelled as Executive Director of the Jewish Education Institute of Pittsburgh between 1991 and 2004. Prior to this, he served as Vice-President of Buy-Wise, Inc in Pittsburgh from 1977 to 1990. In 1990 and 1991 he was the Executive Director of the Tree of Life Congregation in Pittsburgh. Earlier in his career Mr. Grinberg worked as a tax accountant for Arthur Andersen and Co. between 1973 and 1977, and served as JAG Officer in the Unites States Coast Guard from 1968 to 1973. Currently he serves as a Financial Representative for the Luttner Financial Group.
As an active member of the community, Mr. Grinberg has been involved in a multitude of activities. He has served as President of the Pittsburgh Three Rivers Marathon and the chair of its Run for a Reason Charity program which has raised millions of dollars for local charities; President of the Jewish Assistance Fund; Chairman of the Community Relations Council; Chair of the Aging and Human Needs Commission and Vice-Chair of the Jewish Council of Public Affairs, He has also served as Chair of Partnership2Gether, Chair of the Advisory Committee of Repair the World Service Organization, Chair of the Maccabai Youth Games of North America and Co-Chair of the Humane Animal Rescue Fund Raising Campaign. He was President of the Community Day School. He has also served on the Board of Directors of the Jewish Federation of Greater Pittsburgh, the Melanoma Action Coalition, the National Israel Center for Arts and Technology, the Jewish National Fund, the Make-A-Wish Foundation, the United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism and Congregation Bnai Israel and the Bair Find Foundation. He is an active supporter and fundraiser for the Melanoma Research Alliance. He also served as a Little League coach for 11 years.
Before embarking on his professional path, Mr. Grinberg pursued a formal education at Franklin and Marshall College in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, and earned a Bachelor of Arts in 1965. He further secured a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of Pennsylvania in 1968. Mr. Grinberg concluded his academic pursuits with a Master of Business Administration from the George Washington University in 1973. He was later admitted before the United States Court of Federal Claims, the United States Court of International Trade, the United States Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces, and the Supreme Court of the United States.
In light of his exceptional undertakings, Mr. Grinberg has been the recipient of numerous accolades. He was presented with the Ida & Samuel Latterman Volunteer Mitzvah Award in 1988 and the Rogal-Ruslander Leadership Award from the Jewish Community Center in 1990. Named an Outstanding Citizen of Pittsburgh by Station WQEX and the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, he also received a Humanitarian Award from the Western Pennsylvania Jewish Sports Hall of Fame, the Jewish National Fund-Guardian of Israel Award, the Zionist Organization of America Israel Service Award and the Levinson Community Service Award, among myriad others. He was also named Volunteer of the Year by the Jewish Federation of Greater Pittsburgh and received the Community Day School Leadership Award. To remain abreast of changes in the industry, Mr. Grinberg maintains professional ties with the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Pennsylvania Bar Association.
