WATERFORD, MI, August 21, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Marilynn Wendt with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Dr. Wendt celebrates many years' experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Having accrued over 40 years of experience, Dr. Wendt performed in a number of progressively responsible positions for the Waterford School District between 1978 and 2006, including a learning improvement center supervisor, a staff development trainer, and an elementary principal from 1978 to 1992. Previously, from 1966 to 1978, she served as the director of curriculum research, the director of elementary education, and a teacher at the Bloomfield Hills School District. Her career began at the Baxman School as a teacher and a teaching principal from 1959 to 1962. From 1972 to 1978, Dr. Wendt was active as a part-time faculty member at Wayne State University, while also working as a consortium facilitator for the Michigan Department of Education's Experimental & Demonstration Center in 1975-76.
Before her professional career, Dr. Wendt attended Bay City Junior College, receiving an Associate of Arts in 1959. She continued her education at Central Michigan University, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in 1962 and a Master of Arts in 1964. Enrolling at Wayne State University, Dr. Wendt obtained her Doctor of Education in 1971.
Outside of her immediate professional responsibilities, Dr. Wendt was an active member of the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development, the National Council of Teachers of English, the International Reading Association, and the Michigan Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development. The Michigan Reading Association presented her with an Administrator of the Year Award in 1991 and a Celebrate Literacy Award in 1989. Furthermore, Dr. Wendt is a co-author of "Rational Basis for Planning School Accountability" and contributes articles to professional journals.
Notably, Dr. Wendt was the recipient of the Outstanding Educator Award from the U.S. Office of Education in 1968 and a Distinguished Service Award from the Bloomfield Hills School District in 1980. Passionate about learning, she was inspired to become a teacher early on in first grade. Her own teacher, John G. Weiss, was her inspiration and started her upon the path toward education. That path eventually led her to become the first in her family to graduate college, graduate with a doctorate, and become a teacher.
In recognition of outstanding contributions to her profession and the Marquis Who's Who community, Dr. Wendt has been featured on the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement website. Please visit www.ltachievers.com for more information about this honor.
