Dr. Krauss has been a tenured educator for nearly 40 years, who has been recognized across the globe for his work as a theoretical physicist. From 2008-2018 he served as a Foundation Professor in the School of Earth and Space Exploration and the Physics Department at Arizona State University. Previously a Professor at Case Western Reserve University and Yale University, he has also held professorships or distinguished visiting appointments at such institutions as the University of Chicago, Cambridge University, Boston University, Harvard University, the University of Zurich, the University of California Santa Barbara, and Australian National University. Additional Dr. Krauss has served on numerous national boards, and was Chair of the Physics Department at Case Western Reserve University from 1993-2005.

In 2013, he starred in a full-length feature film documentary, "The Unbelievers", which follows Dr. Krauss and colleague Richard Dawkins around the world as they discuss science and reason. He also appeared as a villain in Werner Herzog's feature film, "Salt and Fire".

Dr. Krauss has served the professional community and the public in various ways. He served on the board of directors of the Federation of American Scientists from 2010-19, and on the Board of Sponsors of the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists, which he chaired from 2006-2018. He has been a trustee of various museums, including the Cleveland Museum of Natural History, and the Great Lakes Science Center. Dr. Krauss is President of the Origins Project Foundation. A non-profit corporation, it is led by him, a govern board of directors, and an external advisory board that includes Nobel Laureates, award winning authors, distinguished scientists, artists and businesspeople. The mission of the organization is to enrich our perspective of our place in the cosmos by organizing events with the people who are driving the future of society, and who are producing the ideas that are changing our understanding of ourselves and our world. A bestselling author, Dr. Krauss has published 10 books, including "The Fifth Essence: The Search for Dark Matter in the Universe", in 1989, which was named Astronomy Book of the Year by the Astronomical Society of the Pacific, and "Atom: An Odyssey from the Big Bang to Life on Earth...and Beyond", in 2001, which was awarded the American Institute of Physics Science Writing Award. Dr. Krauss has also authored the New York Times Bestsellers, 'The Physics of Star Trek", and "A Universe from Nothing: Why There is Something Rather than Nothing", as well as his most recent book, "The Greatest Story Ever Told…So Far", which appeared in 2017. Dr. Krauss has authored over 300 academic publications, as well as numerous articles on physics, astronomy, and public policy, for newspapers and magazines including The New York Times and The New Yorker.

Born in New York City and raised in Toronto, Canada, Dr. Krauss attended Carleton University in Ottawa Canada, where he received the Senate Medal, graduating with Bachelors Degrees in Mathematics and Physics, in 1977. He later received an honorary doctorate from the University in 2003. He received his Ph.D. in physics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1982 and was a member of the Harvard Society of Fellows from 1982-1985.

Dr. Krauss is a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, and the American Physical Society.

The recipient of numerous awards for his research and writing, Dr. Krauss notably received the American Association for the Advancement of Science's 1999-2000 Award for the Public Understanding of Science and Technology and the 2001 Julius Edgar Lilienfeld Prize of the American Physical Society. He also won the 2003 Oersted Medal, the highest award of the American Association of Physics Teachers. In 2012 he received the National Science Board's Public Service Award for his contributions to public education in science and engineering.
