Dr. Michael Williams has been the recipient of the Distinguished Professor Award and Faculty Excellence Award from the Wright State University.

Supported by professional experience and an educational background, Dr. Williams excelled as an educator and a psychologist for over four decades. At the start of his career, he taught at the University of Cincinnati between 1972 and 1975, before joining the Dayton Public Schools Board of Education in Ohio as a school psychologist for three years. Soon thereafter, he became an associate professor of school psychology and special education, later serving as a coordinator for the special education program at Wright State University in Dayton from 1978 until his retirement in 1999, after which he was awarded the title of a professor emeritus. During the time of his Wright State University tenure, he additionally contributed as psychological services coordinator for the Montgomery County Children's Services in Dayton, between 1983 and 1988. Furthermore, Dr. Williams gained valuable experience as a founding partner and clinical psychologist for Professional Psychological Services in Dayton from 1981 to 2017.
Dr. Williams has encountered a number of highlights throughout his career. He is particularly proud that he established and maintained his private clinical practice with three other individuals. They maintained a collegial working relationship, which directly benefited their community. Dr. Williams is also gratified to have engaged in studies as a lay Bible student, and the work he has done as an evangelist for the international group, the Bible Standards Ministry. For his accomplishments in the field of education, he has been the recipient of the Distinguished Professor Award and Faculty Excellence Award from the Wright State University, and was honored for his community service as one of the "Top Ten African-American Males" by the Dayton chapter of the Urban League of Greater Southwestern Ohio.
In addition to his primary endeavors, Dr. Williams was a psychological consultant for the Diversion Alternatives for Youth in Dayton, the Miami Valley Juvenile Rehabilitation Center, and the PECE-PACT Program at Wright State University. He also contributed as a psychologist and a counselor for the World of Wonder Community School for eight years. He has been the program manager for the Head Start Supplementary Training Program at the University of Cincinnati, and an evangelist for Bible Standard Ministries in Chester Springs, Pennsylvania. Locally, Dr. Williams has been involved with the boards of several organizations, including the Planned Parenthood Association in Dayton, the Miami Valley Literacy Council in Dayton, and the Dayton Mediation Center. He served as clinical faculty for the School of Professional Psychology at Wright State University. Utilizing his diversity insights, he served as the co-editor of the book, "Teaching in a Multicultural Pluralistic Society," published in 1982.
A graduate of the University of Cincinnati, Dr. Williams earned a Bachelor of Arts in 1970 and a Master of Arts in 1971. Nine years later, he secured a Doctor of Education from that renowned institution in 1980. A licensed psychologist in Ohio, he maintained affiliation with the Mental Health Association, the Ohio Retired Educators Association, the National Association of School Psychologists, the National Association of Black Psychologists, and the American Psychological Association.
