CHICO, CA, September 16, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present H. Reed Applegate with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Mr. Applegate celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
With nearly five decades of professional experience in his chosen field, H. Reed Applegate is a retired graphic and advertising executive. His most notable work was in creating and developing newspaper advertisements. Mr. Applegate began his career as an advertising account executive in 1970 with the weekly Butte County Bugle newspaper, a position he held for several years before joining the Chico Enterprise-Record as an advertising graphic designer from 1983 to 1987.
It was, however, his love of fine art that brought him to the field of art collecting. Mr. Applegate's first art purchase was in 1964. By the mid-1970s he decided to focus just on purchasing artwork by Northern California artists from the San Francisco Bay area, the Sacramento/Davis area and north to the Oregon border. His collection now includes artwork in a great variety of media from paintings, watercolors, sculpture, drawings to prints, photographs and ceramics. Many of the artworks are by well-known Northern California artists. As a result of his art collecting, he has become friends with several of the artists in his collection. This friendship has given him a greater insight into the artists creative processes and to art in general.
Mr. Applegate is the founder of the Museum of Northern California Art. He was responsible for the naming of the museum and helped set the museums parameter for collecting. He also donated a portion of his art collection to create the museums inaugural permanent collection and served two terms on the museum board. He is active in his hometown art community supporting many art events and holds membership with the Chico Art Center.
Mr. Applegate also has a strong passion for classical music. As such, he was asked to serve a term on the board of the Chico Symphony, now known as the North State Symphony.
Prior to embarking on his career, Mr. Applegate pursued an education at California State University, Chico. He obtained a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the university in 1967. For excellence in his career and his contributions to the art community, Mr. Applegate has been recognized with a number of accolades throughout the years. He was notably honored by being presented with the Janet Turner Prize for Excellence in the Arts by the Janet Turner Print Museum and the California State University, Chico in 2012¬. Furthermore, Mr. Applegate has previously been featured in the 55th edition of Who's Who in America and the 27th and 28th editions of Who's Who in the West.
Mr. Applegate was born on March 26, 1943 in Chico, California to father Michael Applegate and mother Jean Shear Applegate. He continues to enjoy art collecting and takes pleasure in art events and concerts.
In recognition of outstanding contributions to his profession and the Marquis Who's Who community, Mr. Applegate has been featured on the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement website. Please visit www.ltachievers.com for more information about this honor.
