CARMEL, CA, September 19, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Ralph Jacobs with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Mr. Jacobs celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Mr. Jacobs is an artist who paints with an honest approach. His quick, intuitive eye detects with fascination the wonderment of nature's beauty of composition, light, color, and form. The spirit in which he decides how to approach and convey his message is reflected on the canvas, which exhibits his artistic freedom and versatility. He continues to grow, searching and seeking perfection. With the ability to paint anything he chooses well, early or late, all of Mr. Jacobs' paintings emit sincerity.

Mr. Jacobs was born during the 1940 California earthquake in the Imperial Valley. The third son of a successful American-Armenian farming family, and the grandson of one of California's early pioneer families, he moved to Fresno in 1950. He began to paint in oils at the age of 12, and throughout his schooling was considered the artist of his class. Mr. Jacobs' earliest memories comprise an oil painting he completed of the façade of Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris, a Paris sidewalk café scene, and a nightclub evening scene.

Mr. Jacobs studied art from 1953 to 1956 under Evelyn Nadeau, who had previously worked for the Southwest Art Museum in Los Angeles painting replicas of the museum's collection of antique Indian pottery and artifacts. During this period, he received an invitation from the board of directors of the Fresno District Fair to conduct a one man show at the fairgrounds during the 1955 fair. He also studied under and became the protégé of the famed painter Abel G. Warshawsky of Monterey between 1956 and 1958. In 1959, Mr. Jacobs moved to Monterey, where he conducted numerous one man exhibitions and received awards in competitive shows.
At age 13, Mr. Jacobs became the youngest artist to join the Society of Western Artists and was associated with the organization during the subsequent 20 years. In 1965, he was the recipient of their most prestigious honor, the Anna Elizabeth Klumpskey Memorial Award at the De Young Museum with the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco for his painting "Classic Nude." In 1966, the noted actor and art collector Edward G. Robinson and his wife expressed their interest in purchasing that painting. Mr. Jacobs was again recognized by the Society of Western Artists Annual in 1969 with the Edmund Alying Award.

His work has achieved both critical and commercial success. In 1956, George Mardikian, the San Francisco restauranteur of Omar Khayyam fame, purchased five of Mr. Jacobs' paintings for display in his restaurant and sent several paintings to a Beirut Museum under his sponsorship. Opening the Jacobs Gallery in Carmel in 1965, he exhibited and sold his work there for more than 15 years. Those who admire his work include Anthony Quinn, Loretta Young, Leon Ames, Clint Eastwood, Mrs. Wally Cox, pro golfer Tom Shaw, and the philanthropist Sam Wyly. Impressively, Mr. Jacobs' paintings are held in collections with the United States Steel Corp. and the Continental Telephone Co., as well as in almost every state in the United States and Japan, Australia, Canada, Lebanon and Ecuador. Notably, one of his paintings is featured in the permanent collection of the Patricia & Phillip Frost Art Museum at Florida International University in Miami.

Recognized by other professionals throughout his career, Mr. Jacobs' work has been reproduced in a number of works, including "Prize Winning Paintings," "Award Winning Art," "Prize Winning Art" from Allied Publications, the New Woman Magazine, "How to Draw" by E. H. Friedman and International Who's Who: Contemporary Men of Achievement. In 1983, he was notably selected as the subject of the college thesis of Adelene J. Remerowski. More recently, in 2015, an unnamed 2013 boy gelding horse reared by Artie Schiller was officially named "Ralph Jacobs (thoroughbred)" in honor of Mr. Jacobs.

Showing his work at one man shows and exhibitions throughout his career, one of Mr. Jacobs' more recent exhibitions appeared at Hacienda Carmel in 2015. He has also had three exhibitions with both the Rosicrucian Egyptian Museum and the Cunningham Memorial Gallery, as well as further one man shows with the Palo Alto Medical Clinic, the Ampex Corp., the Santa Cruz Art Gallery, the Stanford Research Institute, and the Armenian Allied Arts. Mr. Jacobs' work was also housed in such galleries as Le Entrepreneur Art Gallery, the Biltmore Galleries, the Clyde Zulch Galleries, the Paulson Galleries, and the Cottage Gallery II.

Presenting his work through a number of competitive exhibitions as well, Mr. Jacobs has shown his work with the annual exhibitions of the Fresno and San Francisco chapters of the Society of Western Artists, as well as with Statewide Art Exhibitions in Santa Cruz, the American Artists Professional League, De Saisset Museum, the De Young Museum, the Fresno Art Center, the Monterey County Painting, the Monterey Museum of Art and the National Exhibition at the Springville Museum of Art in Utah, which he was notably invited to exhibit at. One of his works was also selected to appear at the National Exhibition of the Council of American Artists Societies at the Lever House in New York City, something Mr. Jacobs considers to be a career highlight.

Recognized for his art in 1963 with a First Place Award in the Statewide Annuals in Santa Cruz, Mr. Jacobs went on to receive the First Place Award in the Statewide Annuals again the following year. He also received a Second Place Award from the Society of Western Artists Annual at De Young Museum in 1964. Winning First Prize at the Monterey County Fair in 1971, some of Mr. Jacobs' more recent honors include First and Second Awards from the Monterey County Fair in 2015, the Second Award from the Carmel Valley Community Art Contest, and two First Place Awards from the Monterey County Fair in 2016.

In recognition of outstanding contributions to his profession and the Marquis Who's Who community, Mr. Jacobs has been featured on the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement website. Please visit www.ltachievers.com for more information about this honor.
