DENVER, CO, September 23, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Katayoun Donnelly, JD, has been included in Marquis Who's Who.
Ms. Donnelly is the principal of Azizpour Donnelly, LLC, which she founded in 2012. She has created a legal practice that accepts cases based on the significance of the issues raised or their importance to the life of her clients and the community, rather than financial considerations, which have placed high-quality legal representation beyond the reach of many Americans. Her practice, which serves clients that range from indigents to Fortune-200 corporations, focuses mainly on constitutional issues in civil and criminal cases before state and federal appellate courts. For instance, she successfully argued a landmark case in the Colorado Supreme Court that established the framework for resolving disputes over cryopreserved pre-embryos.
After moving to the United States from her native Iran (where she earned Bachelor and Master of Laws degrees), Ms. Donnelly received her JD from the University of Denver's Sturm College of Law in 2006. She then worked for the Office of the Prosecutor at the International Criminal Tribunal in the Hague and as a law clerk for the Honorable Edward W. Nottingham, Chief Judge of the United States District Court for the District of Colorado, and for the Honorable Stephanie K. Seymour of the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit. After a few years of practice in large national firms, she founded Azizpour Donnelly to provide high-quality expertise and committed personal attention to each client.
Ms. Donnelly is deeply engaged in the local and national legal communities. She has served on the Board of Directors of the Colorado Lawyers Committee, the Board of Trustees of the Colorado Supreme Court's Attorneys' Fund for Client Protection, and the Colorado Chief Justice's Commission on the Legal Profession. She is an active member of many local legal organizations, including the Colorado Bar Association (where she has served on the Board of Governors), the Colorado Access to Justice Commission, the Colorado Attorney Mentoring Program, and the Faculty of Federal Advocates. At the national level, she is on the Board of Directors of the American Inns of Court Foundation and is an active member of the American Bar Association (where she co-chairs the pro bono subcommittee of the Appellate Practice Committee) and the National Client Protection Organization. In 2010, Ms. Donnelly was awarded the Temple Bar Scholarship to pursue practical legal studies in London. Her accomplishments have also earned her repeated selection to Colorado Super Lawyers.
Asked about the sources of her success, Ms. Donnelly credited "those people who believed in me, especially my family, both in Iran and in the United States, and many mentors and colleagues." She also identified her own special source of inspiration. "Having once been forced to live in silence, I found my voice in becoming the voice of the unheard … and I hope to be able to continue to use it in legal advocacy for many years to come."
