Mr. Carlos Embry Jr. has received the Patrick Henry Award from the National Guard Association of the United States in 2019.

With more than 40 years of experience in politics to his credit, Mr. Embry has become an authority in his industry. He began his career as the general manager at Embry Newspapers from 1963 to 1973, followed by teaching at Pleasant Ridge and Cromwell Elementary Schools and Horse Branch Junior High School from 1963 to 1970, the mayor of Beaver Dam, Kentucky, from 1970 to 1973, the co-owner of Embry Valley Shopping Center from 1974 to 1995 and a judge in Ohio County, Kentucky, from 1974 to 1977. Mr. Embry further excelled as the national committeeman with the Kentucky Young Republicans from 1975 to 1977, the chairman of the First Congressional District Republican Committee from 1975 to 1978, the chairman of the Ohio County Republican Party from 1975 to 1977, the general manager of Embry Newspapers from 1978 to 1989 and the director of the Ohio County Comprehensive Employment and Training Act from 1978 to 1981. Recently, he served as an executive of Ohio County from 1982 to 1989, the organization chairman of Hopkin's Governor Campaign in 1991, the general manager of Hughes & Coleman from 1996 to 2000 and the Kentucky State Representative of District 17 from 2003 to 2014. Mr. Embry concluded his career in 2015 as a state senator.
Prior to becoming an esteemed politician, Mr. Embry pursued higher education, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in English and geography from Western Kentucky University. He subsequently completed coursework at Duke University, Kentucky Wesleyan College, the University of Kentucky and the University of Louisville. Mr. Embry authored "How to Add Years to Your Life" in 1979, "Down the Beaver Trail" and "Melody of Death." He married Wanda Lou Ralph in 1962 and has three children and four grandchildren.
Outside of his professional responsibilities, Mr. Embry remains aware of the changes and advancements in his industry through relevant organizations. He is a member of the Louisville Scottish Rite, the Ohio County Historical Society, the Hartford/Beaver Dam Lions Club, the Butler County Arts Guild and the Dawson Springs Rotary Club. Mr. Embry is further affiliated with Kosair Temple Shriners.
In light of his many achievements in the field, Mr. Embry has received a number of awards and accolades throughout his career. He has received the Patrick Henry Award from the National Guard Association of the United States in 2019. He has also accepted the Outstanding Young Republican National Award, Beaver Dam's Outstanding Young Man recognition and the George Washington Honorary Medal. Likewise, Mr. Embry was honored as the Ohio County Citizen of the Year by the Ohio County Chamber of Commerce in 1982. He has been additionally featured in several editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in Politics and Who's Who in the South and Southwest.
